Information You Choose to Submit
Search Terms
When you type a name, location, or similar detail into a third-party search box, that query is sent to the outside provider that operates the tool. Harris County Inmate Population does not store those search terms in its own inmate database or keep a separate log of individual searches.
Messages
If you email this site or send a message through a contact method, the message and reply details may be kept long enough to respond and manage the request. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Information Collected During Visits

Cookies
Cookies and similar tools help measure how visitors use the site and whether pages load correctly. You can block cookies in your browser, but some search, advertising, or analytics features may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
How the Information Is Used
- Keep pages available, readable, and reasonably fast.
- Send search requests to the partner service selected by the user.
- Understand which Harris County jail, court, and facility pages are most useful.
- Find broken links, loading errors, and security issues.
- Display advertising that may be based on general browsing interests.
Links Away From This Site
Pages may link to HCSO, Harris County, TDCJ, BOP, ICE, Texas IVSS, court portals, public information request pages, and third-party search providers. Official records requests in Texas may be governed by the Texas Public Information Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 552, after you submit them to the public office. Once you leave this site, the destination site's own privacy notice and terms control.
Advertising companies may use their own cookies or tracking tools to measure ads or personalize them across websites. That activity happens on the advertising partner's systems, not in a Harris County Inmate Population inmate-record database.

- Law enforcement, courts, regulators, or government bodies when a valid subpoena, order, warrant, or other lawful demand requires disclosure.
Security Practices
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information handled by the site. No internet-connected service can be guaranteed breach-proof, and this notice does not promise that unauthorized access can never occur.
